Dorothy Thomas, in her 81st year, died on April 26, 2012 at Sunnybrook Hospital where she had been a patient for several months. Born in York, England, she was the youngest child of Charles and Ethel Judson. Predeceased by her parents, her six brothers and three sisters, she is survived by her sister Edith MacKinnon (Owen Sound) and by many nieces and nephews in both Canada and England.
Dorothy worked with the late Richard C. Meech, Q. C. for over 40 years (at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP and formerly at Borden & Elliot). She developed a keen interest in Thailand through her work with the Royal Thai Consulate General in Toronto and had wonderful memories of a very special Thailand trip. Her work with the Harold E. Ballard Foundation brought her great satisfaction.
Dorothy was a thoughtful, independent person with a good sense of humour and a beautiful smile. She showed great courage and determination fighting a variety of health problems during the past three and a half years. Dorothy will be dearly missed by her family and friends. There will be a gathering to remember her at a later date.
The family would like to especially thank Dorothy's niece Diane McCrodan, Susan Meech and Doreen Vanini for being there for Dorothy throughout her illness. We would also like to thank Sunnybrook Hospital staff for all their caring help for Dorothy. Online remembrances and condolences may be sent to www.rskane.ca
