On behalf of the Doherty Family our thoughts and prayers are with all of you. We had many laughs and good times together. We will always have the fond memories in our heart. Lloyd was such a gentle giant. So soft spoken and kind. Lloyd now joins the heavenly hosts and welcomed on the other side by Auntie Molly, Barney, and Annie. The following says it all. I am Standing on the Seashore: - I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads his white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. He is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch him until at length he hangs like a speck of white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other. Then someone at my side says: “There, he is gone!”“Gone where?”Gone from my sight. This is all. He is just as large in mast and hull and spar as he was when he left my side and he is just as able to bear his load of living freight to his destined port. His diminished size is in me, not in him. And just at that moment when someone at my side says: “There, he is gone!” There are other eyes watching him coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: “Here he comes!” And that is dying.

To Pat and the family, I am truly saddened with the news of the death of Lloyd. And, very disappointed that I was unable to attend the visitation or service. Please accept my sincere condolences. Whenever I was in the company of Lloyd, I would be very sure that the conversation would leave me with a smile on my face. I always found him to have a very sharp mind, a keen and even playful wit, and his knowledge of both Regimental and Band(s) matters insightful and extensive. The photograph also bears out my remembrance of his eyes (characteristically with a twinkle) and that familiar smile being almost mischievous - and I mean that in the kindest way. What the photo can't portray is his soft-spoken voice. Needless to say, I've missed his company over these years of illness, but, he was not out of my thoughts and prayers. You need not be reminded how appreciated were his efforts with the 48th Museum. To the 48th he was exemplary of the motto, Dileas Gu Brath. In the coming time, I hope that you will find some comfort from the memories of this fine man as shared by others. To be able to remember is truly a God-given gift, and, he will be remembered! On behalf of the ANTRAM FAMILY please accept our sincerest condolences for Pat and her family. Lloyd was very instrumental on getting our Dad back into the fold of the 48th after years of being away from the "boys". Harold (Wabie) Antram was invited by Lloyd a number of years back to attend one of the dinners held by the 48th and this very kind gesture enabled Dad and us to appreciate the history of the 48th and a small part our Dad played in it. We also attended the museum where Lloyd conducted a marvelous tour that made our Dad feel so proud as he was, at the time, the only surviving member of the 48th Drum and Bugle Band. I also had the pleasure of taking my Dad to the Moss Park Armouries to watch the Pipe Band practice for upcoming events. To see the pride in our Dad's eyes made me so happy and, the fact the Pipe Major Sandy Dewar's Dad, Archie was a good friend of my Dad as they played together many years ago. We were fortunate to have our Dad for as long as we did as he passed away June 3, 2008 at the age of 92 but I know Lloyd played a big role in his happiness in his later years. As a former RSM of the Regt. I will always remember Lloyd making me feel comfortable when I first came to the Regt., particularly when I visited the band room or any function that Lloyd was at he always made you feel welcome, a fine and honourable gentleman and he will sorely missed. Pat, I am truly saddened by the passing of Lloyd. He was a great friend of the Pipes and Drums. When I first became Drum Major, Lloyd was always bringing me historical items of interest regarding the Pipes and Drums. He even found another Reesor who served in the 48th many years ago. Lloyd really made me feel welcome within the Pipes and Drums association and for that I am truly thankful. On behalf of the entire Active Pipes and Drums, you have our most sincere condolences. Pat & Jim: Having suffered long for several years, Lloyd is now at peace, released from the body that has struggled to maintain Life for so long. Well do I remember the visits as a young girl to the Tucker home, the visits we have shared (however few & far apart) as an adult & the small part I was able to play in his nursing care - may I always remember his strength, humour & vigor for Life.
