

A beloved husband, father & grandfather, Ed passed away peacefully at the age of 82 surrounded by his loving wife (Kathy) and daughters (Caroline and Jennifer). He is survived by his two brothers (Paul and Hank), six grandsons (Ryan, Kyle, Aaron, Riley, Carter and Easton) and his nieces and nephews.
Ed immigrated to Prescott, Ontario Canada as a young child from the Netherlands. He attended Ottawa Teacher’s College and Queen’s University to become an educator, teaching VISUAL ARTS for 34 years at the North York Board of Education. He was instrumental in promoting his students’ passion for the Arts. A talented artist, he became highly versatile and prolific using various mediums.
During his teaching career, he also fostered love for the game of Chess. Over the years his teams won numerous tournaments and a championship in Toronto.
For many years he enjoyed playing golf, travelling, attending TSO concerts, his wife’s choral concerts, painting watercolours and carving walking sticks.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude for the staff at North York General Hospital and the compassionate care and support at the Sunnybrook Palliative Care Unit.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ed’s memory to either NYGH or SUNNYBROOK FOUNDATION.
Private cremation will take place and celebration of life will be at a later date.
