Please accept my sincerest condolences on the loss of your father.
You may ask "why so late ?"
Well, I was watching the news recently and saw a story about a person named Michael Weiss and it triggered my memory about my business relationship with your dad.
Back in the 70's I started my automotive career with Roy Foss Motors. Your father was one of my first customers and over the next 14 years he purchased several vehicles from me. In 1990, my family and I gave notice that we were relocating to Victoria
Before I left, Michael called me to wish me luck and thanked me for my assistance over the years. He wanted me to order a new Buick Park Avenue for him. He trusted me to pick a colour and options. During my automotive career, which spanned over 45 years, I still remember your father as one of the nicest customers that I had the pleasure of dealing with. He was a remarkable person.

Dear Weiss family...I'm writing for my dad, Ed Perenack, from Welland. Yesterday (October 24, 2008) I began a search of the Star obituaries to see if I could find any information about Mike and was shocked and saddened to come upon it immediately. I printed the information and then went to tell my dad...a job that was very difficult for me. Dad felt a deep sadness when he read it and wanted me to find a way to let you know how sorry he is for your (and his) loss. Of course, his thoughts went back to WWII when they met and spent many good as well and numerous bad times together. Mike was here to visit dad three Thanksgivings ago. He made that trip on his own, especially to see dad, who, at that time was in a long-term care facility in Welland. They had such a wonderful visit together and the pictures I took that day certainly show it. Currently my dad is in a nursing home with Parkinsons as well as some dementia (which is not severe) but the news that I gave him yesterday came through very clearly to him. His thoughts were immediately to ask me to try to get in touch with you and express his deep, deep sorrow at your loss of a wonderful man. Dad loved him very much. When I was born, Mike gave my parents a small religious card with an inscription for a life of love for a baby. That was 60 years ago and I still have that card. I do hope that you will access this website and receive our sympathies. If you could please write back to my email address it would be much appreciated. On behalf of all the Bayview curlers, past and present, we extend our condolences to the Weiss family on Michaels passing. Mike was always a gentleman and fine competitor and he will be missed by all his friends at Bayview.

As a neighbour, fellow senior curling member at Bayview Country Club and friend I am sorry to lose Mike. He was always a gentleman, a very competitive curler with kind words for everyone.

To the Weiss family: I am very saddened to hear of the passing of Micheal. My apologies for not being able to visit and meet you at the funeral home. As noted, Michael was a very active member of the Blessed Trinity Parish family, and it is there where I came to know him. Very seldom did a weekday morning mass go by without Michael in attendance, and he always came into the building smiling and happy. One day I felt a hand on my shoulder while praying, and afterwards he told me that he had wanted to say hello but didn't want to disturb my prayer time. And so a simple tradition started.. every time I was in prayer and felt that 'touch' on the shoulder, I knew Michael was in the church and saying hello. I also knew he was praying for me as much as I was keeping him in my prayers too. That little passing 'touch' came to mean so much over the years - and some days arrived at times of personal challenges that just seemed to disappear moments afterward. I always knew the days a blood donor clinic was running - the 'troops' as I often joked, were there in the church lobby waiting for Michael's arrival. He loved his work with the clinics so much, and no one wanted to be late or keep him waiting. Michael, I will NEVER forget the enormous kindness you showed me these last years. I am so thankful for all your prayers and for the LORD having made our paths to cross. May one day I join you in heaven, and be greeted by that special 'touch' again. To the Weiss family, my deep and sincerest sympathy. I dont have to tell you that Michael was truly a special man. Please accept my condolences on the death of your father. I worked with Mike in the early seventies in Toronto Region. I always found him to be conscientious and committed to his work in the cause of Catholic Education. I am amazed with the strength and courage he fought the cancer because when I knew him he had already experienced the disease. May God reward him for his work and grant you peace in this difficult time.

I was very saddened to hear of the passing of a dear friend. I always looked forward to my clinics at St. Gabriels Parish because Michael as he was known to us and the donors at Canadian Blood Services always came to greet me with a big hug and he would say, " The Angel is here " When I first met Michael he immediately walked over to me and introduced himself and asked me my name and when I said Angela he said "I knew it had to be because you have the face of the angel". From that day forward he always called me Angel. That was Michael, he always made me feel special just as he made everyone else he met feel special too. The last time I met Michael he said. " Angel , I need you to pray for me." Michael, I am praying that you are resting in peace my good friend because you have earned your rest. You were a great man and may God Bless You. Nearly 50 years ago Mike and I were appointed provincial school inspectors by the Province of Ontario .We joined a small group of Separate Inspectors who were responsible for supervising and inspecting the work of Catholic School Boards and Catholic school teachers for all the Separates schools across Ontario. It was a time of rapid growth and challenge and we were a scattered group who depended on each other for support and friendship. Mike was a colleague and a friend who helped Catholic education through the opportunities and struggles of its most challenging years. I was blessed to know and work with him Ken Regan

Hi Jacq and Jacq's family; I am sincerely sorry for your loss. Losing a parent is one of the hardest things we must endure. I wish you the ability to remember all the good times with your Dad. I met Mr.Weiss when I taught at St. Thomas Aquinas School. I was working in Special Ed. He encouraged me and made me feel valued as a teacher. I later moved out of the area, and left teaching for a while. When I returned to work in the Scarborough area, I often met him at school-related functions. He would always say : " Wait, don't tell me your name. Let me get it". And he always did. He made a difference . Rest in peace, Mr. Weiss. I will always remember you.

As a friend of the family we would like to express our sympathy for your lose. Your father was a real family man right down to the day of passing. (fathers day). It takes a lifetime to create great memories but only a moment to remember them. So take a minute and reflect as to just how lucky we are for having the opportunity to have spent just one moment with a great man.
