Georgia Tsakiris

Georgia Tsakiris, a loving Mother, Grandmother, and dear friend to many, passed away on April 26, 2023, after a lengthy illness. She faced her illness with grace, courage, determination, and never lost her positive spirit. Her unwavering faith was an inspiration to all who knew her. She continued to find joy in the simple things in life, and her kindness and generosity touched the lives of many.

Georgia was born on December 27th, 1948 in Filothei, Greece. She had a smile that would light up the room, her laugh was infectious and her hugs were so loving and welcoming.

She immigrated to Canada in 1965 and became a talented Hair Stylist in Toronto. She met her husband in her early twenties, and together they started a family and raised three children. Georgia was a devoted mother, who always put her children first. She was a constant source of love, support, and encouragement, and her children will always cherish the memories of her unwavering love and devotion.

In addition to being a wonderful mother, Georgia was also a doting grandmother to her six grandchildren. She loved spending time with them, reading to them, and spoiling them with her delicious cooking. She lived for her grandchildren, who were her pride and joy and gave her a passion for life that was undeniable.

Georgia will be deeply missed by her children, Costa, Paula (Michael) and Nicholas (Bessie) and her grandchildren John-Michael, Matteo, Isabella, Johnny, Dina and Alex.

She is predeceased by her husband John Tsakiris, and her parents Nikolaos Panourgias and Panayiota (Karavidas) Panourgias.

Her legacy of love, compassion, and kindness will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.

A visitation for Georgia will be held Monday, May 1, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home in Thornhill, 8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill, ON L4J 1W3. A funeral service take place on Tuesday, May 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Greek Orthodox Church, 3125 Bayview Ave, Toronto, ON M2K 1G2. A graveside service will follow at York Cemetery, 160 Beecroft Rd, Toronto, ON M2N 5Z5.
