

GLADYS MAIE BRISTOW (nee MUNRO) Peacefully on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the age of 84 at York Central Hospital. Beloved wife of Glen for 54 years. Loving mother of Bonnie (Michael Worrell); Robbie; Kerry. Dear Grandma of Arden and Perri. Growing up as the youngest of seven children in Belle Cote, Nova Scotia, she is predeceased by her brother. Edward and her sisters, Ruth, Mary, Tena, and Lettie. She is survived by her dear sister, Isabel Stasiuk, of Portage La Prairie, Manitoba and many nieces, nephews and friends. Her sociability and love of life were a testament to her Cape Breton upbringing. She had a wonderful sense of humour with a quick wit and was loved by all. A natural extrovert, Gladys made friends easily wherever she lived including Halifax, Winnipeg, Montreal, Goose Bay (Labrador) and when she finally settled in Thornhill. She was very fashion conscious and would always want to know what someone was wearing to a special event. She enjoyed her family immensely and was very proud of everyone. Gladys was an active member of the Naomi Anglican Women's Church Group. She volunteered for more than 30 years for many charities including: the Canadian Cancer Society, Heart & Stroke Foundation, The Arthritis Society, Meals on Wheels and The Kidney Foundation of Canada. The family would like to thank the staff at York Central Hospital, as well as her family doctor, Dr. Meriam Iskander. A special thanks to the staff and residents at Sunrise Assisted Living - Richmond Hill, for their love and support. Friends may visit at the Jerrett Funeral Home - Vaughan Chapel, 8088 Yonge Street (South of Highway 407), Thornhill, on Monday, October 24, 2011 from 7-9 p.m. or Tuesday, October 25, 2011 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, 140 Brooke Street (Centre and Yonge), Thornhill, on Wednesday, October 26th at 1 p.m. Reception to Follow at the church. A private interment will follow the reception for family only.
