Hilla Schmitz

Peacefully, at home, after a long and courageous battle with cancer on Thursday, April 26, 2012. Predeceased by her husband Herbert (d. 1994) with whom Hilla founded and operated Paradise Pools. Survived by her loving daughters Cornelia (Nigel) Cassell and Christina (Byron) Graham, her grandchildren Shannon, Kate (Isaac), Cody, Andrea, Alex and great-grandson Braiden . Special thanks to Hilla's family and close friends Richard Henry, Odette Barnes, Dennis Gray, Alex Chandler and Arthur Richards who went out of their way to make her last months easier and for making it possible for Hilla to enjoy the comforts of home during her sickness. The family also extends its deepest appreciation to Dr. Jovan Milanocic, Dr. Narges Khoshnood, and to Mercini, Julia, Juliet, Marvie and Patricia; the caregivers who looked after her with such compassion. Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 29, 2012 from 2-5 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge St., at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Funeral Service will be held on Monday, April 30, 2012 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel.
