James Cullen

Passed away peacefully at North York General Hospital with family and friends at his side. Survived by his wife of 53 years Maureen, sister Margaret Reddy, daughter Anne and son Paul (Caroline) and his grandchildren Juliana, Molly, Daniel and Jack. Jim was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Jim was born in Belfast, Northern Ireland and moved to Dublin shortly thereafter. He graduated with an engineering degree from Trinity College (Dublin) and immigrated to Canada in 1959. He worked for the Ministry of Transportation his whole career until he retired in February 1993. Jim was an active volunteer at Blessed Trinity Church, where he belonged to the Knights of Columbus and ran the ShareLife program for many years. His passion was running and he completed several marathons including here in Toronto, Boston and Dublin. Jim was a gentleman in every sense of the word. His Irish wit and sarcasm will be missed. Till we meet again Jim "Hasta la vista baby"!

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 26, 2014 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge St. (at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 11 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Roman Catholic Church (3220 Bayview Ave., north of Finch). Jim will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery. If desired, memorial donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
