
Surrounded by family James passed away peacefully at the age of 77 on December 11th, 2003 at Sunnybrook Hospital. Beloved husband of Olga for 51 years. Loving father to George and his wife Vicky and daughter Melinda and her husband Jack. James will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Brandon, Vanessa, Nicholas and Cassandra. James was born in Zhelevo, Greece on October 26, 1926. He came to Toronto with great anticipation for a new life. James prospered in Toronto initially with his immediate family: father Chris, mother Jordana, brothers Bill and Tom and his uncle Foto Tomev. In 1950 he opened the Pep Coffee Shop on Broadview and Gerrard. In 1952 he married Olga Kolas and together with his sister-in-law and brother-in-law Norm and Sophie Vasileff he opened the Atlas Grille. With this partnership the Atlas Grille flourished for many years in the Queen Street area. He will be deeply missed by family and all who loved him. James will continue to live in our hearts. Friends may call at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles), on Sunday, December 14th between 2 - 9 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, December 15th at 1 pm followed by interment at York Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society / Leukemia Research Fund of Canada.
