Passed away on November 13, 2010 at North York General Hospital at the age of 90. Devoted and loving husband to Dzidra for 61 years, dedicated father to Valda, Lauma and Astra. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Yan, Aristo, Jimmy, Anna, Marite, Ingrid and five greatgrandchildren. Also survived by his sister Velta and many relatives in Latvia. Predeceased by his brother Bruno who lost his life in WW11, sisters Ella and Ilga and his parents Eduards and Ede Avens. A Memorial Service will take place on Friday, November 19, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. in the R.S. Kane Chapel (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles) Friends may call a half an hour prior to service time. A Private Urn Interment to follow at a later date at York Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to the Latvian Museum of Occupation.
