With great sorrow, we announce that Janis Lynn Ricci passed away on Monday, June 5th, 2023 at the age of 71, after a long battle with lung disease and other health struggles that she faced with true courage and unwavering faith. Born in North York on January 4th, 1952 to her parents, Arthur Ronald & Olive Andrews, Jan’s indomitable spirit and zest for life was evident to all who met her.
Jan is survived by her loving family: she was the beloved wife of John for 50 incredible years and a loving and devoted mom to Chris and Laura. Jan was the best mother-in-law blessing in the world to Beth (wife of Chris), and treasured her “amazing” (as she would say) grandkids for nearly fifteen precious years: Isaac, Aliza, Canaan, Everett, and Owen, all of whom she doted on with joy. She is also survived by her loving sister, Karen Nuson (née Andrews), her Auntie Eve Ruby, as well as her late father’s second partner, Marg Stasyshyn, who also became a dear friend.
Jan was a precious and generous friend to many. She was truly gifted at making people feel loved, special, and important. Even those who only met her briefly remember her warmth and spirit of generosity. Jan was passionate about contributing her creative talents to the world through activities like gardening, crochet, and nature photography. She was also a truly dedicated animal lover and enjoyed caring for many of God’s creatures over her lifetime, both at home and beyond, with gentleness and kindness.
With a grit, determination, and resilience that truly inspired her family, Jan always credited the Lord as the foundation for her strength, and was trusting Him to the very end. While we deeply mourn our loss we also find comfort envisioning her in the arms of her Saviour, pain-free and at peace.
