Where it all began …. 194 Pemberton Ave

Mrs Morton was such a kind, loving and gentle soul.  She (and all the Morton family) were a fixture on Pemberton Ave.  My mother, Rosemary Eckert, often stopped to chat with Jean on her porch when she used to do her regular walk around the block. What an honour it was to know her.  Our deepest condolences to all her children and grandchildren.  Much love from the Eckert family at 169 Pemberton.

I'm so sorry for this loss. She was a great lady. For many years, my Mom (Marge Miller) and Jean were good friends & neighbors. It's true back in those years to raise children it would take a village. And this was so with the Mortons/Millers years ago. My deepest sympathies to everyone.  Suzanne (Sue) Miller xo


Every memory of Jean and Jack are great they were always a complete Joy. I was always hoping they would be at the event or flea market adored them both. Wonderful parents. I think of them often and always with a smile. You left a positive mark on everyone you touched.


Best neighbour(s) and friend from 1952 until today - Jean, Jack, + five beautiful, kind, loving  children.    My wife,  Ann (Cartledge) Wright (1943 to 2018) gradually adopted Jean as her surrogate Mom when her own mother died in 1988.    Annabelle's & Jean's properties backed on each other.   "Annabelle" loved Jean and sitting with each other on Jean's front porch multiple times over the yrs, chatting over all the events, celebrations, family get-togethers, even memories of Jeannie's marriage in 1952 when wedding festivities continued in Morton's back yard (Pemberton Ave.) and Ann was just 9.   
When my Annabelle died in 2018, Jeannie continued to be my go-to in Willowdale to sit on the front porch & recall many shared memories of the neighbourhood, old cars, old-fashion Halloweens, family episodes, etc.  
    A kind, caring, neighbourly, 'down to earth' lady, loved every one of her children equally, and would do anything for a neighbour in need.   Sadly missed ;  never, ever, forgotten!
