It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Joachim Manfred Waldemar Fricke, on February 10th, 2025, at the age of 96 years.
He will be forever missed by his adored grandsons, Aidan (with Becca), Linden, and Lakely, daughter Petra, and son-in-law Steve. Eternally reunited with his wife of 66 years, Hannelore (predeceased). Youngest brother to predeceased siblings Rudolf, Melitta, Astrid, Hellmut, and Sigrid, and uncle to many nieces and nephews. Dear friend of the Weyrauch Family for 80 years.
Joachim was born in Nieder-Salzbrunn, in the province of Schlesien (Silesia), Germany, in 1929. Even while embracing his new Canadian home, he continued to carry his love for his hometown in his heart.
Joachim was known for tirelessly building and creating things, especially at his beloved cottage, over which he lovingly laboured for the course of 45 years.
Despite his many talents, Joachim’s greatest passion was that of fatherhood and later, grandfatherhood. He was actively involved in the care of his grandsons– a mutually shared joy and gift.
Visitation will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 14th, 2025, at Kane-Jerrett Funeral Home, 8088 Yonge Street, Thornhill, followed by a funeral service at 11:30 a.m., with reception immediately thereafter. Burial will follow at Elgin Mills Cemetery, 1591 Elgin Mills Road East, Richmond Hill.
