John Charles Frederick Downer

John passed away on January 27, 2026 at Humber River Hospital. He is survived by his devoted wife Erlinda, his children Matthew, Alison, and Adrienne, his grandchildren Lucas, Kyla, Beatrice and Charles. He is also survived by his older brother Raymond, brother-in-law Phil McEnaney, his nieces Cathy (Peter), Jennifer (Chris), Caitlin and nephew Christopher, great-nieces and great-nephews, and many beloved cousins and friends.

John has gone to rest with his parents, the Reverend Philip and Helen Downer, siblings Deirdre McEnaney (nee Downer) (Phil) and Nancy Downer (Peter), and eldest nephew Ian Downer (Wendy).

The family would like to express deep gratitude to John’s in- home caregivers Val, Claire and Miguel, the staff at Hawthorne Place and Humber River Hospital for their compassion, patience and care.

Visitation for John will be held at St. Luke Parish, 39 Green Lane, Thornhill, on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, beginning at 10:00 a.m.

The Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 a.m.

A reception will be held in the parish hall immediately following the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks you to consider a donation in John’s memory to a charity that is meaningful to you and your loved ones.
