Gordon was the loving husband of the late Barbara Gwynne-Timothy (nee Chisholm) . Born in Halifax on May 21, 1925, the son of Dorothy (Zwicker) and Gordon Gwynne-Timothy, he was the loving father of Heather Gwynne-Timothy (James Archer), John Gwynne-Timothy and Janet Borron (Jim Borron), grandfather of Michael Stacey (Katherine Archibald), Matthew Stacey (Sarah Dawson), Abby Borron and Andrew Borron, and great grandfather of Hugh Archibald Stacey.
Gordon had an interesting and fulfilling career as a lawyer in Toronto, primarily in mining law. He was justifiably proud of his contributions to the opening of mines that created many jobs. He attended University of Toronto Schools, and upon graduation joined the RAF and served until the end of the World War II. He then studied philosophy at Trinity College, University of Toronto, followed by law studies at St. John’s College, Cambridge, and was called to the bar at Gray’s Inn. He finished his legal career at Holden, Day Wilson. He also enjoyed teaching commercial law to undergraduates at University of Toronto.
Gordon’s faith was important to him, and because of his service to the Anglican Church was awarded the Order of the Diocese of Niagara. He will be remembered for his loving kindness, compassion, generosity, respect of others, and his zest for life and sense of humour.
His family is grateful for the loving care he received at Sunnybrook Veterans Centre, LSSE2, especially from his nurses Jocelyn and Bruno.
There will be a Celebration of Gordon’s life at St John’s Anglican Church, Willowdale, 1087 Lillian St. Toronto, on Friday, January 13 at 1:00 p.m. Friends are welcome to attend from 12:00 noon to service. In lieu of flowers, a donation to a charity of your choice would be appreciated.
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.kanejerrett-thornhill.ca for the Gwynne-Timothy family.
