

Peacefully passed away on January 16, 2007 at hospital. Lloyd was born July 22, 1924 and raised in Caledon East, Ontario the only son of the late Ted and Mabel Berney. Following WWII service in the R.C.A.F and R.C.A.C. he attended the University of Toronto, graduating in 1949. He then joined the T.T.C. and for the next forty years held several general executive positions - the last eight years as General Manager - Operations. During his career Lloyd was active in Association work. As a result, he was inducted into the Hall of Fame, the American Public Transit Association, the Canadian Urban Transit Association and Ontario Motor Coach Association. For several years Lloyd served as Canadian representative on the International Light Rail Commission (U.I.T.P.) and was the founding chair of the Canadian Transit Heritage Foundation. Lloyd was a past master and life member of Peel Lodge #468 A.F. and A.M. A long time member of Thornhill Country Club and Forest Grove United Church. Lloyd was predeceased by his wife Evelyn and daughter Marlene. He is lovingly held in the hearts of his wife of twenty-six years Kathleen (Kitty) and surviving children Paul Berney and Lee Seaton and their children Andrew and Laura, Jennifer (Conal), Leigh and Andrea. Loved and loving stepfather of Nancy (Rick), Laurie (John), Barb (Rick) and Tim and their children David and Amanda, Samantha, Valerie and Adam. Friends may call on Wednesday, January 17 from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday, January 18 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, January 19, 2007 at 11 a.m. in the Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Lung Association would be appreciated by the family.
