I first met Lloyd in 1962 when he came to the North York Board of Education, where for three years I had been employed as Clerk of Works. My immediate impression was of a quiet, patient, kindly gentleman. It was one which never changed, but was only reinforeced over the years until his retirment. I worked for a close kinsman of Lloyd's, John A. MacDonald. He too was a man for whom I had the highest respect and affection. They were alike in so many ways and I consider myself most fortunate to have spent the greater part of my life working for two men whom I so greatly admired. Lloyd and John who were both physically and personally so very much alike, enriched my life and the lives of all who came in contact with them. I will never forget him. Derek W. Sincere condolences to the Campbell family for the loss of Lloyd, from the Blair family. We are very sorry we are not able to attend Lloyd's Remembrance Service as we are currently out of town. As neighbours on Knollview Crescent through the 60’s, our memories and those of our children, Brian, Carolyn and Diane go back a long way. We remember Lloyd as a warm, friendly and very reliable person. In recent years we were pleased to renew our friendship at the Forest Grove Men’s Club lunches, where we had many good visits. I was one of the many professional colleagues who knew Lloyd and his work. He was a man of great distinction and all who knew him in the North York Board of Education felt privileged by the friendship and professional guidance he provided. Even after he left his official responsibilities he maintained a keen interest in every aspect of public education in the city. I was one of the many who benefitted from his friendship and collegiality. A gentle man and a true gentleman. The world will be a lesser place without him.
