

December 22, 2012, in her 92nd year, passed into the arms of Our Lord, after a long and rich life. Born, Dec 31, 1920, in Kosa, Latvia, the eldest child of Artūrs Ezergailis and Alma (nee Ķuze). Immigrated to Canada with her young family as refugees after the Second World War, and since 1950, lived life to the fullest in her adopted country of Canada raising her family in Oak Ridges, Ontario. Maiga was a person of deep faith, with unreserved loyalty to family, boundless energy and unlimited heart, giving generously of herself to family, her church, and her beloved Latvian community. Maiga was predeceased by her husband Jānis Petersons, and three of her four children, Ilga Turner, Māra Amoliņš, Andris (Andy) Petersons, and two brothers, Leonīds and Jānis Ezergailis. She is survived by and will be missed by her son, Martin Petersons (Catherine Carroll), her 10 grandchildren, Kathleen, Sean and Martin Turner, Christopher Petersons, Zinta, Krista and Arnis Amoliņš, and Oskar, Olivia and Victoria Petersons, 6 great grandchildren, her brother Auseklis Ezergailis, in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family and friends in Canada and Latvia. Visitation from 2 to 4PM, and 7 to 9PM on Wednesday, December 26th, 2012, at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street, Toronto. Funeral service at 11 AM on Thursday, December 27th, 2012, at St. Andrew's Latvian Lutheran Church, 383 Jarvis St., Toronto, Ontario, followed by interment at York Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Andrew's Latvian Lutheran Church or a cancer research foundation of your choice would be welcome.
