Went home to be with the Lord suddenly, but peacefully on Wednesday, October 28th, 2009. Beloved wife of Howard. Loving mother of David, Carolyn (Brian) and Cathy. Cherished grandma of Emily and Lisa. Dear sister of Elizabeth Vowles and her husband Harding. Beloved aunt of Doug (Ann), Bob (Kristina) and great aunt of Julie and Ari. Survived by Evelyn and Bob Litchfield and their family. Joan's caring approach, love and kindness impacted the lives of many troubled youth over the number of years she worked as a primary specialist teacher. Her untiring commitment did an unbelievable amount of good enriching her students' lives in the process. She had a beautiful singing voice, faced life with incredible determination and loved her family unconditionally. Friends may call on Sunday, November 1st and on Monday, November 2nd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the R. S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street (at Goulding, south of Steeles). Funeral Service to be held in the chapel on Tuesday, November 3rd at 3:00 p.m. Private family interment to take place at a later date.
