Maria Konyen

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Maria Konyen at the age of 99. Healthy and vibrant throughout her life, she passed away suddenly, yet comfortably, with 4 of her grandchildren by her side.

Maria - best known as Oma - is now peacefully reunited with husband Michael, son Peter (Heather) and Daughter Diana (Frank). Maria is survived by, and will forever be missed, by her son Edward (Michelle), her grandchildren Jessica (Sean), Katie, Jamie, Michael (Stephanie), Nicole (Zachary), William, Erica, Elizabeth, Evan and great grandchildren Owen, Liam, Lucas, Isla and countless other extended family members and friends.

Oma’s heart and soul were filled with love and caring for everyone in her life. There were no limits to what she would do to help a friend or loved one. Nothing was ever too much work or too much to ask. If you knew her, she loved you, cared about you and you knew it.

Oma had an immense love for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She gave every ounce of herself to all of them, all the time. They are, and always will be, her everything, and greatest legacy. She loved them, cared for them, was proud of them, and supported them unconditionally throughout their lives. Her love and support was returned many times over as she was surrounded by one or more grandchildren daily for the last 20 years of her life, and calls and visits were constant.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday April 5th at 10 am at Kane-Jarrett Funeral Home, 8088 Yonge St., Thornhill, ON, followed by a graveside service at Beechwood Cemetery, 7241 Jane St. Vaughan, ON.

In lieu of flowers, Oma would want donations be made in support of the education of the children in your life.
