Matthew died peacefully on December 12, 2014, after a truly heroic journey that capped a remarkable life lived to the very fullest. He was 38 years old. A brilliant photographer and visual artist who followed his vocation to the end. Ryerson University graduate, deep feeler, sensitive soul, strong spirit. Friend and inspiration to many. Beloved son of Brian & Monica Foley. Loyal and passionate brother of Adam and Sean, and their spouses, Kathryn Long and Rachel Devlin-Foley. Caring, dedicated uncle to Hannah, Renée, and Declan. Deepest gratitude and blessings to Matthew's constant companions on his journey with ALS: his caregivers and their families:, Lester, Hervie, August, Tristan, Joseph and Henry. You are true brothers. The family wishes to thank the staff at Mount Sinai Hospital and Dr. Russell Goldman at the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care, as well as the community at Artscape Wychwood Barns. We are also deeply grateful for the many friends, colleagues, and supporters who have acted in solidarity with Matthew over the years. Visitation will take place on Wednesday December 17, 2014 from 6-9 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home, 6150 Yonge Street (at Goulding, south of Steeles). A celebration of Matthew's life and journey is scheduled for Thursday December 18, 2014 at 2 p.m. If desired, donations can be made on Matthew's behalf to the Temmy Latner Centre for Palliative Care, or to Artscape.
And be sure to get outside for a good stroll, as Matthew did each day, without fail. One love.
