Matthew (Muljadi) went home peacefully to join God, the Angels and Saints at the age of 84 on Family Day, Monday, February 15, 2016 after a long and courageous battle from various health ailments. Survived by his loving wife, Lestari (Yang); Children: Hendra Coco (Carol); Lesmana Dede (Vivi); Bernie Budi (Linn ); Linda (Daren Hancott); Grandchildren; Edrick (Stephanie); Ellisya; Calvin; Dyllan and Garrett; Great Grandchild; Ethan.
Matthew was born in Garut, Indonesia, the 8th of 10 children. He lost his father when he was very young and started working to help out his mother. He moved to Jakarta to attend the University of Indonesia to become a lawyer. He almost completed his law degree when he met Lestari and decided that it was more important to get married and work to support his new wife.
He was an ardent tennis player. He loved playing the piano, listening to music, playing cards, chess and eating out, nothing was more enjoyable to him than having a meal at the various restaurants wherever, whenever with whomever. He loved his immediate family, siblings, nephews and nieces. He always looked after everyone else’ needs before his own. One of his wish was to eat lobster, so, Christmas 2015, the family took him out for a lobster feast. It was so much fun watching him eat the lobster!
The family are grateful for the absolutely wonderful care he received throughout his illness from all the Doctors, especially Dr Sullivan; nurses; home care workers, especially Minto; dear friends, especially Deacon Val and Tante Wies, we could not have gotten through this time especially the last 3 weeks at North York General Hospital without everyone’s professionalism, love, friendship and prayers. We have been so blessed indeed.
