Norm passed peacefully in his sleep with his beloved wife, Mary by his side.
Norm was born in Scotland after the war, then raised in beautiful Prince Edward Island. He married Mary at the age of 22 and the two of them put down roots in North York where they raised their children.
Norm worked at various positions in Finance at IBM and Celestica for 35 years and especially valued the many friendships that started there and continue still.
He was an avid reader who would go through several books a week. Norm was also an enthusiastic sports fan who never gave up hope that the Leafs would again win the Stanley Cup so he could celebrate with his family. Throughout his life, Norm eagerly travelled the world. This included trips to Japan, Panama, Fiji, New Zealand and Monaco among other wonderful places. His most frequent destination was PEI, although he drove across Canada to both East and West coasts.
Norm was a gentle giant of a man, adored by his family and many friends for his sense of humour, kindness and intelligence. He will be missed dearly by his wife, sweetheart and best friend of 56 years, Mary; their son, Scott (Alyson) and children, Sydney and Peyton; and their daughter, Kathryn (Eric) and children, Finnegan and Neville. Norm was an involved father who enjoyed his promotion to grampy and loved being involved with the grandchildren and their activities. He was the proud big brother to his sisters, Christine in England, Elizabeth (David) in New Brunswick and Rhoda (Ken) in PEI. He is remembered lovingly by in-laws, Elsie and Wayne and many good friends. Norm was predeceased by his son, Keith (2002); his parents, Rod and Morag Martin and in-laws, John and Edna.
Norm also appreciated the care, dedication and kindness he received at hospitals and clinics during his treatment for cancer.
Norm is resting at Kane-Jarrett Funeral Home at 8088 Yonge Street. There will be a visitation from 4pm to 8pm. on Wednesday, January 22nd and a service on Thursday, January 23rd at 11a.m. with refreshments to follow. For more service information, including online viewing, please contact the funeral home at (905)-889-8889.

Norm, we love you always and are grateful for you and the times we all shared together.
