Paul was a devoted husband, a loving father to his two children, and a man whose greatest joy in life was his family. He frequently shared how proud he was of his wife, Lauren, and their children, Matthew and Daniel, and was a constant source of encouragement and support throughout his wife’s career. His kindness, patience, and steady presence were at the heart of everything he did. He showed his love not only in words, but in the quiet, everyday ways that made his family feel supported, safe, and deeply cherished.
Paul proudly served his community with Peel Regional Police for 37 years, rising to the rank of Inspector. Throughout his career, he was deeply committed to helping others and carried a strong sense of duty in everything he did. He earned the respect of his colleagues and was known as a thorough and dedicated investigator, with a strong work ethic, a great sense of humour, and a genuine concern for his people. The friendships he formed through his service remained an important part in his retirement years.
Paul had a gift for connection. His close friendships that began in childhood were bonds built on loyalty, laughter, and a lifetime of shared memories. He considered them family, and they remained an important and enduring part of his life.
Hockey was a lifelong passion for Paul. As a goalie, he brought commitment, focus, and heart to the game for many years. Baseball was another sport he loved, and he especially enjoyed watching his sons play, following their games with pride and enthusiasm throughout their lives. Later, he found just as much pride and joy off the ice, serving as a trainer for his sons’ hockey teams. Being there for them, supporting, encouraging, and sharing in their love of hockey and baseball meant everything to him and reflected the kind of father he was.
Those closest to him will remember Paul’s love of travel, his sharp eye for a good deal, and his famously loved Caesar salad.
At home, Paul was always busy fixing, building, and improving. Whether it was a small repair or a larger project, he took pride in creating a home filled with care and comfort. His hands were rarely still, and his efforts were always for the benefit of those he loved.
Paul often said, “We are truly blessed with children we cherish and friends we value. Life is about balance and I think we have found it.” He lived these words every day, appreciating the simple joys of family, friendship, and a life well lived.
Above all, Paul will be remembered for his deep love, his quiet strength, and the way he made everyone around him feel valued. His absence leaves a profound space in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Lauren, and his cherished children, Matthew and Daniel, along with extended family, dear friends, and colleagues who will carry his memory forward.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your favorite charity or The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation in Paul’s memory, with gratitude for the compassionate care he received throughout his illness.
In our grief, we are grateful for the life we shared and the cherished memories that will remain with us forever.
