Passed away peacefully, after a brief but valiant battle with brain cancer, on Thursday, July 29, 2010 at North York General Hospital at the age of 85. Beloved husband of Aline for 59 years. Loving father of Pierre (Christiane) of Cleveland, Hélène, and the late Paul. Proud grandfather of Stéphane, Philippe, and Catherine. Survived by his siblings Laurette (Paul), Roger, Julien, and Claire (Robert). Brother-in-law of Berthe (Joseph) and Gaston (Louise). Uncle to many nieces and nephews. René was dedicated to his career as a Professional Engineer in the mining industry. He was a longtime member of the Donalda Club, where he enjoyed golfing and curling. Friends may call on Monday, August 2, 2010 from 6-9 p.m. at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles). A Mass will be held on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Gabriel's Roman Catholic Church (670 Sheppard Avenue East).
