

It is with profound sadness that the family of the Rev. J. Allan Kirk announces his passing, after a valiant fight with Lewy Body dementia, on Friday, December 14, 2018, at Bloomington Cove Long Term Care Community. Beloved husband of Janet, father of Jennifer (Blake), Amy (Steve) and Greg (Anna). Much loved grandfather of Max, Alexandra, Jordan, Timothy, Aidan, Travis, Alice, and Maggie. Brother of Wayne (Phyllis) and Eleanor Shockey (David) and uncle to their children.
Allan was a graduate of the University of Toronto, in Music, and studied at the Royal College of Music and the Royal School of Church Music in England. He taught at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto. Called to ordained ministry, Allan graduated with a Master of Divinity, from Trinity College, University of Toronto.
Allan served as a well loved and respected Anglican priest for over thirty-five years, in the Dioceses of Toronto and Saskatoon, in the following parishes: Curate at St. Paul's Church, Lindsay; Incumbent in the Parish of Elmvale, at St. Theodore of Canterbury, and St. John the Baptist, Norway; Chaplain and teacher at Bishop Strachan School; Priest-in-Charge at St. Cyprian's. In his retirement Allan served as Pastoral Associate at St. George on Yonge, and later as Honorary Assistant at St. George on Yonge and St. Theodore of Canterbury. In Saskatoon, he served as Dean and Incumbent of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist. Allan has been an Associate of the Sister's of St. John the Divine for many years.
Visitation on Wednesday, December 19th from 7 – 9 p.m. Funeral on Thursday, December 20th at 11 a.m. Both being held at St. Theodore of Canterbury Anglican Church, 111 Cactus Ave., North York. A private inurnment will take place at the Columbarium of the Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist in Saskatoon. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to contribute to St. Theodore of Canterbury Anglican Church, St. George on Yonge, St. Cyprian's or the Alzheimer's Society DAY Centre of Thornhill (website: alzheimer-york.com). The family wish to express their heartfelt thanks for all the love and support, provided to them in so many ways, through the years of Allan's illness.
