
CSC.-On Friday, February 4, 2005 at North York General Hospital. Beloved husband of Lillian. Dear father of Deborah, Kathleen and Laurie and father-in-law of Martin Leboff, Jeffrey Harris and Christopher Smith. Grandpa Bob to two special children, Timothy and Jordan. Born in Regina, Saskatchewan 1929, raised in West Hill, Ontario. Son of the late Harold and Pearl Brooks. Retired cinematographer, Bob started his motion picture career in 1947 with Associated Screen News and later Chetwynd Films Ltd. He established Robert Brooks Associates Ltd in 1969 where he continued his film & video career for the next 33 years until he retired. He was the recipient of many awards, including the Bill Hilson Award for Outstanding Service in the Development of the Motion Picture Industry, the Kodak New Century Award in Recognition of Personal Contribution to the Art of Cinematography, the Fuji Award in Recognition of Extraordinary Contributions to the Canadian Society of Cinematographers and an Emmy Award for Film Cinematography on 'Lillehammer '94-16 Days of Glory'. He was the first elected President of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers where he remained active as an advisor and member of the board of directors. He chaired the jury for the CSC Annual Awards for many years. He was a past board member of the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television representing cinematographers. He enjoyed mentoring young filmmakers and was a past member of the Advisory Committee for the Film & Television Production Program at Humber College. He had a long association with Variety Club-Tent 28, as well as Special Olympics Canada. He was an active member of St. Bonaventure Franciscan Parish and a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 5080. Bob was a caring and generous person. He will be sadly missed by his family, friends and all who knew him. Visitation at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles), on Wednesday, February 9 from 1 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Funeral Mass St. Bonaveture Church, 1300 Leslie Street, Don Mills Thursday, February 10 at 11 o'clock. Reception following. Interment Mount Peace Cemetery. If desired, donations may be made to the St. Bonaventure Building Fund.
