Robert Frederick Hansford

Having fought his IPF with great stoicism and grace, our Rob peacefully passed away at home on June 28th, 2017, with family by his side. Beloved husband of Vivienne (nee Robertson) for 42 years, having met each other 48 years ago in the UK; happy and loving father to Sarah (Gallagher) and Lisa (Gray); father-in-law to David and Shawn; and very proud grandfather of William, Matthew, Landon and Ethan.

Rob qualified as a Quantity Surveyor in the UK, and emigrated to Canada in 1975, where he and Vivienne were married. He will be greatly missed by his family in England; Stella, his very dear sister, her daughter Anita, husband James and their daughter Imogen; his niece Christina and husband John, and their son and daughter David and Dominique, as well as Rachel and wee Zachary, and Matthew.

In the past years, Robert enjoyed being Chairman on the Heintzman House Board, and also volunteered at the Thornhill Seniors Club. His sense of humour and warm manner endeared him to many during this time. Rob was a wonderful, caring husband and support to Vivienne, especially during the many years of her volunteer work in the Community.

Cremation has taken place at a private family service. A Celebration of Robert’s Life will be held on Monday July 10th, at 2 pm, at Holy Trinity Church, 140 Brooke Street, Thornhill, ON. L4J 1Y9 (905-889-5931) with Reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to Hill House Hospice or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
