“Little Girl, Sister Pearl, Mom Pearl”
Our beautiful and loving mother Sarah Pearletta Hibbert, affectionally called “Little Girl, Sister Pearl or Mom Pearl” transcended this earthly life on Tuesday, February 28, 2017 in Toronto, Canada.
Mother to William, Benjie, Clive and Sandra. Grandmother to Adrian, Darren, Saidah,
Ben, Kirby and Samuel, she started her journey in a cradle at the Cunningham Yard, Mount Pelier, Jamaica, May 15, 1938. She is sister to twelve (12) siblings of which three (3) predeceased her, countless nephews, nieces, and cousins.
Her full and wonderful life included a love for travel all over the world to places such as U.K, USA, Panama, Haiti, Cuba, Israel, Aruba, and Canada, where she left her mark as a servant of God at every stop.
Her desire to be near her daughter and youngest grandchild grew into her love for Canada. Imagine a Jamaican girl growing up in the warm, humid island breeze of Mount Pelier, Granville, Savanna-La-Mar, Reading and Unity Hall, Jamaica, growing to love harsh, cold winters of the Greater Toronto Area. But that was our Mom, your Sister Pearl and Mom-Pearl.
Independent, Strong, Determined, Fearless, Loving and did we say Strong? As she took on
life with a certain confidence that can only be described as being anchored in the
loving faith of her God. There was no question she was the child of a giant of a man,
Deacon William Cunningham, from Mount Pelier, Hanover and an angel, Kezian Bowen-Cunningham from Granville, St. James.
As we celebrate our Mom’s life, we can only hope that our journey will reflect the
loving nature with which she raised us. We pray for similar strength, humility,
growth and service to our community in a way that will leave the same lasting
impact of love on this world.
