Shawn Michael Downey

It is with great sadness that the family of Shawn Downey announce his sudden accidental passing on August 2, 2021 at the age of 54.

Shawn is survived by his devoted and loving parents Gloria and Bruce Downey, his devoted and loving sister Kathleen Downey, his partner Megan Licznar and the many family members living in Canada, England, Ireland and New Zealand.

Shawn was a kind and gentle person whose love of life coupled with his out-going personality meant that he was always comfortable with anybody and in any setting.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Holy Trinity Anglican Church, Thornhill. 140 Brooke Street, Thornhill on August 19, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.

A Reception will immediately follow the Celebration of Life Service and will be held at The Ladies' Golf Club of Toronto, 7859 Yonge Street, Thornhill.

In lieu of flowers the family asks you to consider making a donation to The Canadian Cancer Society in Shawn's memory.

Due to restrictions in attendance with concern for COVID-19, the family asks those wishing to attend the “Celebration of Life” Service and/or the Reception following the service, to please register their intention for attendance at each of the Service at the Church, and Reception at Ladies’, by emailing [email protected]. The email should be received no later than August 15, with the attendance information.
