

died peacefully on Tuesday, September 10, 2013
in the 65th year of her religious life.
She is predeceased by her parents, Leopold Bouchard and Adelia Poulin,
and by her sisters Yvonne and Evelyn.
She will be dearly missed by her sister, Marie Bouchard, CSJ,
and her brothers Joseph and Francis and her many nieces and nephews,
as well as many colleagues and friends, and her sisters in community.
Sister Mary Alban entered the Sisters of St. Joseph on September 8, 1948.
She taught for twenty years and then spent fifteen years
working for social justice in various ways.
She did extensive research and writing, some of it
with the Global Education Associates in New Jersey.
Among her writings, Sister Mary Alban published through Novalis,
"Peace is Possible" in 1986, "Until the Son Is Risen" in 1998, and "Overcoming Loneliness Together: A Christian Approach" in 1991.
She worked with Pax Christi in many initiatives, including representing them as well as the Sisters of St. Joseph at the United Nations.
She was there from 1983 to 1989, after which time the many congregations of Sisters of St. Joseph have continued to have an NGO at the UN.
In 1990, Sister Mary Alban went to Haiti,
where she has ministered until March of this year.
She was highly committed to her work there, of writing a series of booklets in Creole for peace education, and of preparing people to use the booklets in their work. Among other things, she also helped women to begin micro-businesses so they could support themselves and
she oversaw the building of houses for the poor.
Her wake will be held at the Sisters of St. Joseph's residence at 2 O'Connor Drive, Toronto on, Friday, September 13, 2013 at 3:30 p.m. with a prayer vigil at 7:00 p.m.
Mass of Christian burial will take place at 2 O'Connor Drive
on, Saturday, September 14 at 10:30 a.m.
Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
