Died peacefully at St. Joseph’s Residence, 2 O’ Connor Drive, Toronto, Ontario, on Monday, August 8, 2016, in the 57th year of her religious life.
Sister Catherine was born to William McDonough of Toronto, and Irene Mc Arthur of Waubaushene, Ontario. She is predeceased by her parents, and her sister, Margaret McDonough Platten. She will be greatly missed by her niece, cousins, friends and sisters in community.
Sister Catherine entered the Sisters of St. Joseph of Toronto, September 14, 1959, and made her first profession in 1962, and final profession in 1967.
The ministry of Health Care Administration was her calling as a Sister of St. Joseph. She was missioned to St. Michael’s Hospital as a young sister and the facility won her heart while she collaborated with others to provide excellence in patient-centered care.
Sister Catherine was a gifted woman and her personal charisma, quick wit and sense of humour were enjoyed by all who knew her.
She obtained a BA in economics from Queen’s University and a Master degree in Health Sciences Administration from the University of Toronto. Sister Catherine continued in ministry at St Michael’s Hospital as Executive Vice President and served as a board member for many health care related facilities.
Sister Catherine was Administrator at Marycrest Home for the Aged in Peterborough for five years. After returning to Toronto, she was Administrator for St. Joseph’s Motherhouse, and Infirmary at St. Joseph’s Morrow Park.
Sadly, Sister Catherine’s health declined and she was being cared for at the Sisters of St. Joseph’s Residence, when God called her to her eternal rest.

Friday, August 12, 2016, from 2:30 – 4:30 P.M. with a Prayer Vigil at 7 P.M.
Mass of Christian Burial, Saturday, August 13, 2016 at 10:30 A.M. Chapel, 2 O'Connor Drive, Toronto, Ontario
Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery on August 19, 2016, following cremation.
