

McMahon, Sister Mary James, CSJ (Mary Therese) died peacefully at St. Joseph's Residence, 2 O'Connor Drive, Toronto, Ontario, on Saturday, January 17, 2015, in the 73rd year of her religious life. She was the daughter of James McMahon and Sarah McCulley. She is predeceased by her sisters, Kathleen and Rita, and her brothers, Father Arthur, Francis and Edward. She is survived by several nieces and nephews. Sister Mary James became a registered nurse in 1939, and entered the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1942. She nursed at St. Joseph's Hospital for nearly 20 years. Sister Mary James specialized in paediatric nursing. She was very talented and dedicated in caring for children who became ill, always showing gentle compassion and a warm smile. Continuing her ministry in health care, she was assistant administrator and then local leader at St. Michael's Hospital. At Providence Villa, Sister Mary James was a floor supervisor. She next assisted in St. Joseph's Infirmary for five years before she returned to St. Joseph's Health Centre, where she volunteered for 12 years. Since 1994, Sister Mary James has lived at St. Joseph's Morrow Park, and more recently at St. Joseph's Residence, 2 O'Connor Drive. Her ministry has been one of prayer for the communityand the needs of the world.
Visitation will take place at St. Joseph's Residence, 2 O'Connor Drive, Toronto, on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 from 3:30 p.m. with a Prayer Vigil at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel at 2 O' Connor Drive, Toronto. Interment at Holy Cross Cemetery.
