Valery Valve Kalina

Valery Kalina passed away peacefully at Bradford Valley Long-Term Care, surrounded by

compassion and care. She was lovingly attended to by her devoted nurse Frieda, along with the

exceptional team of nurses, including RN Sue, and the dedicated PSWs and caregivers who

supported her with grace and kindness.

Valery was born in Tallinn, Estonia in 1937. She travelled to Canada with her family in 1953 and

settled in Toronto and Niagara-on-the Lake.

Valery has now reunited with her beloved husband, Ted Kalina, her brother Mike Mannapso, and

her parents Hedvig and Hugo Mannapso (Ellen). Her sister Mary Mannapso joined her shortly

after, following her to the gates of heaven. Also predeceased,her Son in Law,Saro Stranges.

She leaves behind a loving family: her brother Eric (with Diane),Sister-in-Law Peggy. Her

daughters Debbie (with Dave) and Heidi (with John), and her cherished grandchildren Amanda

(with Francois Sr.), Tanner (with Emily), Briana, Carly (with Alex), Shane, Darby, and David. Valery

also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews,(Anneli), and her

treasured great-grandchildren, Weslyn and Francois.

Valery will be remembered for her generous spirit as a Lady Shriner, her deep love of gardening

and animals, and her lifelong passion for international competitive Ballroom and Latin dance,

both as a performer and a teacher at her own dance studio. She will also be fondly remembered

for her exceptional talent in Art and Stain Glass.

To honour Valery’s life, two memorial gatherings will be held:

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in Valery Kalina’s memory to

the Rameses Shriners Hospital for Children. Donations can be made by calling 514-282-8545 or
