
HENDERSON, William Kenneth (Bill)-Passed away suddenly while on vacation in Brazil on April 5, 2003, in his 82nd year. Born William McIllmoyle of Lakefield, Ontario August 9, 1921 of unknown parentage, he is survived by his caring wife Pat Henderson, daughters Judith DeJong, Nancy D'Armour, Jennifer Callaghan and Sarah Henderson, sons William Henderson, David Henderson, Peter Henderson and Michael Henderson. He graduated from Northern Vocational School in 1939. He worked for Toronto Dominion Bank from 1939 to 1940. Joined the R.C.A.F. 1941 to 1945. Served as an observer, was posted to #45 Group R.A.F. Transport Command as a navigation officer. He was the navigator of the crew seconded to the U.S. Army Air Corp to lead American aircraft to Ascention Island prior to the installation of navigation aids on the island. After the war he joined Trans Canada Airlines. He served as navigator, chief navigator and second officer supervisor. He retired August 1981 at the age of 60 with 32,500 flying hours and 2,250 Atlantic crossings. Worked under contract for Elal Israel Airlines until 1998 as a simulator instructor. He was recognized by the Guild of Air Pilots and Navigators of the United Kindgom as a Master Air Navigator. He was a member of the Toronto Real Estate Board as an associate broker and instructor. He was a volunteer driver for many years with Sprint. He was also an avid member of the Whitevale Golf Club. Friends may call at the R.S. Kane Funeral Home (6150 Yonge Street, at Goulding, south of Steeles), on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service in the chapel on Wednesday, April 16, 2003 at 3 p.m. Cremation.
