
Byron Lockwood, resident of Arvada, passed away Monday, February 15, 2016 at 7:45 pm in his home.
Byron was born in Kenesaw, Nebraska to Courtland and Martha Kroll Lockwood on July 5, 1926. He was one of eight siblings. He graduated from Kenesaw High School with the class of 1943. After graduating he farmed with his father for several years. He enlisted in the Army and served from 1950-1953. He was also a paratrooper.
He married Rose Ann Clark in Morrisonville, Illinois in January 1959. They moved to Lakewood, Colorado in August 1959. He got a job with Gates Rubber Company and was employed there for 30 years. He also had his own lawn mower sharpening and repair business for several years. Later, he and his sons had a lawn mowing service and with the proceeds they bought and restored a 1920 Oldsmobile truck of which they still own to this day. He was a man of many talents.
Surviving Byron is his wife Rose Ann and four sons; Richard (Linda), Kenneth (Pam), Randall and Kevin and one daughter Karin Bradshaw. He had 12 grandchildren; Danny Ross, Denise Peck, Derek Lockwood, Dustin Lockwood, Daniel Lockwood, Ian Lockwood, Katie Cillessen, Heath Cillessen, Austin Bradshaw, Logan Bradshaw, Lauren Lockwood and Summer Lockwood. He also has one great-grandson, C.J. Byron also has a surviving sister, Virginia Short of Kenesaw, Nebraska.
Services will be in the Chapel at Olinger Highland Mortuary, at 104th and Grant St. on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to family, the Alzheimer’s Association or charity of choice in Byron’s’ name.
