Carmella T. Schepis, age 94, of Westminster, CO, went home to our Lord on February 11, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Born to Italian immigrants, Andrew and Domenica Mangola, on October 22nd, 1930 in Pittsburgh, PA, Carmella grew up in a close-knit Italian family marked by love, resilience and a deep passion for family.
Carmella continued to call Pittsburgh home for the next 48 years as she built a life with her late husband Domenick PJ Schepis, with whom she shared 29 years of marriage and raised their four children: Joe, Virginia, Domenick and Theresa. As a devoted mother, she instilled in her children the values of resilience, kindness and the importance of faith.
In pursuit of new adventures, Carmella moved to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1978, where she embraced the beauty of the Rocky Mountains and continued to create the legacy of her vibrant life. Here she made large contributions to ensure the success of her daughter, Theresa’s candy business and always made sure she remained an integral part of each of her children’s lives back home in Pennsylvania and Denver.
Carmella was an active member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church where she attended services every Saturday evening. Her faith and love were unwavering, and she touched the hearts of many.
Carmella is preceded in death by her son, Joe Andrews. Carmella is survived by her children, Virginia, Domenick and Theresa and their spouses, as well as her cherished grandchildren, Carla, TJ, Gina, Nicholas, Mandy, Geno, Alexis, Shana and Chase, and great-grandchildren, Trevor, Brett, Gianna, Sicily, Domenick, Jaime, Siena, Rayne, Carlisle, Leyna, Royce, Giovanni and Luciano, in addition to two great great grandchildren who brought her immense joy and pride.
Throughout her life, Carmella was known for her warm smile, infectious laughter and her love for the Lord. She had a passion for reading, writing novels, crossword puzzles, working at her daughter’s candy store and spending time with her family.
Carmella T. Schepis will forever be remembered for her love, strength, and beautiful life she created. Though she may have left this world to be with our Lord, her spirit will live on in the hearts of her family.
