December 25, 1926 to May 29, 2014
Loving Wife, Mother and Grandmother, Carol was born to the late Dale and Bernice Worley Hicks, on Christmas Day 1926 in Marshalltown, Iowa. She grew up in Marshalltown until her late teens, when her family moved to Boone, Iowa, where she met her future husband.
On April 12, 1946, Carol married the love of her life, Charles “Chuck” Crouse. Shortly after they were married, Chuck and Carol moved to Cheyenne, Wyoming where Carol worked for Mountain States Telephone, as a switchboard operator. Later, Chuck and Carol moved to Sidney, Nebraska, where Carol was a stay at home mother, raising their two children Joni and Timothy. Chuck and Carol eventually moved their family to Laramie, Wyoming, where Carol worked at the University of Wyoming as a Bookkeeper, until she retired. After retirement, Chuck and Carol moved back to Iowa, where they built a home on the shores of Lake Ponderosa, in Montezuma, Iowa. They enjoyed life at the Lake, but soon came to realize that they wanted to be closer to their children and grandchildren. This led them to move to Fort Collins, Colorado, where they created a very happy and fulfilling retirement life for over 20 years. They were very active members of St. John’s Lutheran Church, where they made many close friends. Carol volunteered countless hours in the food and clothing bank operated by the church.
Due to increasing health concerns, Chuck and Carol moved from Fort Collins to Thornton, Colorado in September 2013. On May 29, 2014, while surrounded by the love and support of her devoted husband Chuck and family, Carol was called to her Heavenly Home.
Carol is survived by her beloved husband of 68 years, Charles “Chuck” Crouse; Daughter Joni Duran; Son Timothy (Janet) Crouse; Sister Jean (Eugene) Carson; Brother Dale (Marilyn) Hicks; Brother Richard (Judy) Hicks; Grandchildren Amber (Becca) Mendoza, Priscilla Woodward, Jennifer (Carlos) Kelley, Shad (Nikki) Crouse, Brandi (Sean) Keylor, Heather Crouse; Great-Grandchildren Katie, Julia and Bryan Martin, Eden Woodward, Marley Martinez, Andrew Rowe, Antonio, Angela, Analisa, Vanessa and Mariah Munoz, Katie and Ashley Haas
