Darlene lost her battle with pneumonia in her home at Bonaventure Assisted Living in Thornton, CO where she resided after having lived in her family home in Commerce City, CO since 1972. She was 83 years of age.
Darlene is survived by her son David (Debbie) Jenkins and daughter Shirley (Rudy, Sr.) Saiz. She was preceded in death by her husband William "Bill" Jenkins, her son William "Billy" Jenkins and by her daughter Cynthia "Cindy" Jenkins. She leaves behind four grandsons - Rudy Jr. (Betina), David Saiz, Kevin and Steven Jenkins, two granddaughters - Lindsey and Jamie Brooks, and four great grandchildren - Patrick and Alyssa Saiz, Sarah Brooks and Carter Marshall.
Darlene was born in Helena, MT but grew up in Portland, Oregon. She met the love of her life, William "Bill" and became married in July 1955. She was a military wife, as her husband served in the US Air Force. Together they had four children.
After her husband's retirement from the military, she and her family moved to Commerce City, CO. Darlene started a job doing molding ejection at B & R Plastics in Montbello, CO where she worked for many years. She later worked as a supervisor for the same company.
Darlene was active in her faith and active throughout her entire life. For many years she bowled on a bowling league. She enjoyed collecting tea pots and butterflies, watching sports, and yelling at the television when she wasn't happy with a play being made. Her Facebook page became riddled with humorous comments about football and golf. She loved to exercise, sew, crochet, and play games but, most of all she loved having time spent with her family and friends.
Darlene traveled to many places and went on fun cruise trips with her husband and close friends. She enjoyed hosting holiday gatherings, being outdoors, camping, having backyard BBQ's, and even mowing the lawn.
Darlene lived every day to the very fullest, filled with fun and laughter. She had a heart of gold and just as she laughed and smiled throughout the years, she passed with a grin on her face.
Services will be held at the Olinger Highland Cemetery, 10201 Grant St. Thornton, CO 80229 on Saturday, Feb 15, 2020 beginning at 1:30 pm followed with catered food and beverages in the reception room. There will be a viewing from 12:30 pm until 1:30 pm. All those who wish to attend are welcome.
