Delbert Lebsack (Del) was born on August 3rd 1932 to Fred and Helen Lebsack of Loveland, Colorado and passed on April 23rd, 2023. He was the second oldest child out of four. He was proceeded in death by his older brother Everett and is survived by his younger sister Beverly and his younger brother Robert.
Del graduated from Loveland high school in 1950 and served in the US Navy from 1951 to 1955 aboard the U.S.S. Chemung, a fleet replenishment oiler during the Korean War.
Upon honorable discharge from the Navy, Del worked a few different jobs until he took a position working for Wonder Bread at their Loveland depot in route accounting until 1965 when he transferred to the Denver Wonder Bread manufacturing plant where he worked in the office in a variety of roles including accounting supervisor. In total, he spent 36 years working for Wonder Bread until his retirement in 1992.
Del met his future wife, Judith Ann Samson (Judy) in 1955 just prior to her high school graduation. They married four years later on June 22nd, 1959 in San Angelo, Texas. They have two children, Michael (Sheryl), of Thornton, CO and Marci Vukson (Mike) of Los Gatos, CA. Del and Judy along with their two children moved to Westminster, CO in 1965 into the house where they have resided since then. Del and Judy were married almost 64 years before Del’s passing on April 23rd, 2023.
In his retirement, Del enjoyed playing golf at the Riverdale Golf Club in Brighton. He was a long-time member of the Riverdale Senior Men’s Club League. He made many lasting friendships from being part of that league. He also enjoyed playing his accordion and was a member of the Monarch Accordion band for many years. He also made many good friends through that group as well. Both of these activities became much more challenging when Del lost most of his sight. He would memorize the new songs just by listening to them and committing them to memory since he could no longer see the notes on the paper.
It was Del’s strong spirit and sharp mind that made it possible for him to continue to play. Fortunately, those qualities remained with him until he passed. His friends and family who knew and loved him will miss having him in their lives.
