Diane Compton

Diane was born on July 7th, 1959 in Izmir, Turkey to parents Beverly Ann Shepler Beard and Ronald Ray Beard. They were living on base during the Cold War; her Father was stationed as a Lieutenant through the ROTC program. Over her lifetime, she lived in many places including Kalamazoo, Portage, Jackson, Lansing, MI, and Northglenn, CO. On April 24th, 1999, she married Scott Compton and shared 26 wonderful years with him.

She attended Michigan State University, transferred to Western Michigan University, and Kalamazoo Community College. Diane worked at Children’s Hospital from 1998 to 2025 as an Abstract Chart Coder. Prior to that, she had held a real estate license and worked in real estate sales, as well as various other retail sales roles dating back to her high school years.

Diane was a part of several memberships through her work and attended car club social events with her husband. She was a lover of horses and enjoyed horseback riding, embroidery, she loved her pets, children, and spent time with friends and family. She had a rich personality, was full of love and laughter and would warm up any room she entered, engaging everyone with inquisitive questions and inviting them to conversation. Diane was very social and light-hearted, eager to make each moment upbeat with some comedic relief. Diane had a very big heart and always gave more than she asked for.

She is survived by her husband Scott Compton, Stepchildren: Merritt Compton and Drew Compton and Step-Grandchild: Hayden Compton. Since Diane’s passing, Diane’s second grandchild, Rhys Compton, was born, and she has a granddaughter on the way, Leo Compton. Her Grandparents: Daniel Bernard Beard, Alice (Maggie) Gilson Beard, Parents: Richard Charles Shepler and June Barker Shepler Randall and her sister Debra Beard-Bader.

A celebration of life for Diane will be held Saturday, October 11, 2025 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery, 10201 Grant St, Thornton, CO 80229.
