Don Tesch of Englewood, Colorado went to be with the Lord on September 3rd, 2023, at Sky Ridge Medical Center in Lone Tree, Colorado. He will forever be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather to generations, uncle, cousin, and friend.
Born on November 14, 1938, in Webster, South Dakota, Don was the first child of Harold and Clara (Dobson) Tesch. He was later joined by sister, Janice and brother, Garold. He was proud of his frugal, hardworking farm-boy roots; rarely missing an opportunity to make repairs or fixit projects a teaching moment. Don graduated from Waubay High School in Waubay, South Dakota in 1956.
In November 1955, Don married Marilyn Porath. Trade school took them to Chicago, Illinois where their first child was born. His career path returned them to South Dakota. Settling in Rapid City, four more children were born.
On June 9, 1989, Don married Sandra Cole Redman in Northglenn, Colorado. He gained two bonus children from this union. Don and Sandy made Colorado their home. They set down roots, cultivated new friendships, and drew strength from their church and community.
Don’s service to the Lord was so very important. He was a faithful LCMS member and served in many capacities for over half a century. He was a lifetime member of the Optimist International Club serving as President in South Dakota for many years.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife Sandra of Englewood, Colorado, and his children Joel (Karen) Tesch of South Dakota, Bruce (Pamela) Tesch of Pennsylvania, Brenda (Gary) Price of South Dakota, Roxanne (Daniel) Siegert of Washington, Cynthia (Michael) Speer of Alaska, William (Laura) Redman of Texas, and Lynda (James) Lillwitz of Colorado. Missing Grandpa are eighteen grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
Those greeting him in Heaven were his father Harold, mother Clara, stepfather Burton Robinson, sister Janice, and brother Garold. Also sharing his new address are a multitude of family and friends.
A visitation will be held at 10 o’clock a.m. on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Olinger Highland Mortuary and Cemetery 10201 Grant St. in Thornton, Colorado. The Funeral Service will immediately follow at 11 o’clock a.m. with gravesite internment.
