Dorothy was born October 17th, 1925; went to her Heavenly Home on September 23, 2021, she was 95 years young. Dorothy was born in Ault, Colorado to her parents Dave and Katherine Dieterle. She came from a family of eleven children, four boys and seven girls. She is survived by one sister, Goldie Glover. Dorothy was raised and worked in the sugar beet, potato and wheat farming communities of Ault, Greeley, Barnesville and Gill. She attended and graduated from Greeley High School, something she was very proud of.
On Christmas Eve 1943 Dorothy married the love of her life Harold Heinz. They were married for 58 years before his passing in 2002. They raised four children in their home in Commerce City and then later moved to Westminster.
Her children, oldest son Roger Heinz (Sharon), daughters Marlena Dubee, Sandra Graham (who preceded her in death) and her youngest daughter Penny Carnahan (Danny). She also had 19 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and great great grand children.
Dorothy worked for Safeway as a meat wrapper for 35 years. She also enjoyed sewing and crocheting dollies. When Dorothy retired she wanted to spend more time with her sweetheart Harold. They spent more time together building a garage at their home in Westminster, from the dirt up!
Dorothy would often walk around her beautifully manicured yard. She was very proud of it as she tried to maintain it all herself. She would tell us about how she walked her half-acre that day to make sure it was all good, to get her exercise and enjoy the weather.
Dorothy and Harold were long time members of Our Saviors Lutheran Church of Commerce City and upon moving to Westminster they joined Peace Lutheran Church in Arvada.
Per family request, all guests are required to wear a mask or face covering at all times.
In honor of Dorothy, services will be held Friday, October 8, 2021 beginning at 1:00pm at Olinger Highland Mortuary & Cemetery located at 10201 Grant Street in Thornton, Colorado.
