
86, died April 3, 2016 in Granby, CT near to where she had retired to be near family. Elouise was born on July 16, 1929 in Los Angeles, CA and was adopted one month later by Charles and Mildred (Filmer) Boswell. Elouise moved with her family to Alaska in 1961. Elouise received her real estate license in 1965.
She is a past president of the Anchorage Board of Realtors and was named Realtor of the Year in 1988. In 1991, she received the Realtor of the Year award from the Alaska Association of Realtors and in 1993, received the TAU RHO award and gold medallion from the National Association of Realtors for her outstanding service. She and her business partner and friend, Ona Tofte, were known as “The Golden Girls” in the real estate community. Elouise was a member of the Anchorage Women’s Club, the Pioneers of Alaska, the Alaska Parent Teacher Assoc., and Catholic Daughters of America. She was also involved with the Cancer Society, and the Miss Alaska and Miss Colorado Scholarship pageants.
Elouise moved to Southwick, MA to be near her daughter, Susan, and spent many wonderful years living at The American Inn, first in her cottage and then in the assisted living wing. Her family thanks the staff and residents for the wonderful care and love she received there.
Elouise is predeceased by her parents and older brother, Charles F. Boswell. She leaves behind her children Joseph F. Schmidt (Pegi) of Point McKenzie, AK, Susan M. Ranstead (Mark) of North Granby, CT, Kathy A. Sage (Michael) of Greeley, CO, and Eric C. Schmidt of Austin, TX. Elouise adored being Nana to her grandchildren: Jared Schmidt, Bryan (Rachel), Kelly, and Chelsea Ranstead, and Tyler (Ashlee) and Lucas Sage. As GiGi, she cherished her great-grandchildren: Brooke, Cayden, Isaac and Adalynn
