April 27, 2022 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law Beth and Mark Darby of Thornton,
Colorado.
Evelyn was born in Laramie, Wyoming on February 20, 1934 to Betty and Henry Schroeder. She
grew up with her younger sister Jan enjoying the great outdoors camping and skiing. Evelyn
spent all of her childhood years in Laramie where she graduated from high school in 1952. She
attended the University of Wyoming majoring in social work and was a member of the Tri Delta
sorority in which she made lifelong friends. At UW, she met her future husband Wayne Weber
and they married in Laramie in 1954 after his graduation from college. They moved to the
Weber family wheat farm in Wheatland, Wyoming, and had four children together, Jay, Beth,
Kyle and Joni. They later moved to an irrigated farm and cattle ranch on Chugwater Creek
before their marriage ended. She later married the “love of her life” Zack Phifer in 1977 and
enjoyed 32 years of marriage in which they helped raise their granddaughter Melissa as their
own. They moved to Pasco, Washington in 1988 and worked together in the hay cubing
agricultural implement business. Evelyn loved the Pacific Northwest and exploring the beautiful
scenery.
Evelyn’s career included working on the family farms in Wheatland for many years. She later
was employed as an executive administrative assistant for a local bank in Wheatland and later
at Farm Credit Services in Pasco, Washington. She was an honored employee of FC and was
proud of her contribution to the business. After retiring she enjoyed spending time with family
and friends. She was a Master Gardener who loved growing beautiful roses and adored her
dogs, Lily, Coco and Lucy.
Evelyn was a beloved, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and
daughter. She touched so many lives with her kind, caring, self-less character who put others
before herself. She was a huge fan of Russell Wilson, was an avid member of the “12th Man” of
the Seattle Seahawks and loved watching every game.
