Frank McCoy also known to early friends and his family as "Bud" passed away Sunday, December 15, 2024, peacefully at his home in Denver. He was born in Oklahoma but always insisted he got his " bringing up " in Arkansas.
He worked different jobs such as a Roughneck in the Oklahoma oil fields moved on to drive trucks for a spell before finding his niche at The Gates Rubber Company in Denver and retired after 32 years.
His first marriage to Laverne produced daughter Marcia (dec) and son Larry (estranged).
In 1958 Frank McCoy met Ellen Gifford. Happenstance or destiny this meeting would define the rest of their lives. To explain, Ellen (Mom) lived in Spokane for four years and had met most of the McCoy family. Meanwhile Frank (Dad) was living in Denver. His brother Lou (aka Barney) was dating mom's sister. They brought Frank to dinner at our house one night and shortly after that we began calling Frank "Dad". So, Danny, Daneen (dec) and Craig were now part of the McCoy family too. One hot August night these three children were gifted with a beautiful little sister. This little family was getting better all the time. Judy was a "hit" with the whole family.
Mom and Dad celebrated 50 years in 2009. Mom passed away in 2011. Dad remained faithful to Mom and never remarried. He made his Home in Denver in the neighborhood where Judy lived. He was in pretty good health however time began to take its toll, and he needed more personal attention. Judy stepped up became advocate, housekeeper, counselor and eventually full-time caregiver.
Our Dad will be remembered for the many camping trips, mentoring in the proper etiquette of fishing, hunting and camping. He was a proud bowler for over 50 years, and finally giving it up in 2023. He was a man’s man, but the same man was tender and known to break out in tears at family events. Mostly he will be remembered for story telling and lots of humor.
He is survived by his brother Everett, sister Mary, sons Danny and Craig and daughter Judy. Granddaughters, Rita, (Dad called his first granddaughter Pocahontas), Raquel, Jennifer, Andrea and Tammy, Grandsons, Joshua, Nathaniel, Neil, Courtney, Zachary, Enzio, Adam, Corey and Jason, along with numerous great and great, great grandchildren.
Dad, you stepped into Glory and heard “Well Done My Good and Faithful Servant!”
