He was born Dec. 3, 1919 in Des Moines, Iowa to Lloyd T. & Bernice M. (Rogers) Oliphant. He spent most of his life in the Denver area and in 1942 joined the U.S. Navy where he became an aviation mechanic. He was discharged in 1945. In January of 1952 he married Mary L. Morgan in Pueblo, CO. George was a field mechanic for McCoy Caterpillar/Wagner Equipment from 1966 to1984 when he retired. He then worked part-time for Ritchey Brother Auctioneers, Little Valley Nursery and J & S Auto Body.
One of George’s hobbies was bowling. He began bowling in Brighton in 1964 and continued until 2008. He was on several leagues during those years. He also loved working on antique cars especially his 1930 Model A Ford and was a member of the Ye Old Auto Club. He was a lifetime member of VFW Post 2841 in Brighton.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; his children Sylvia Tidquist (Bob) of Brighton, Crystal Rebol of Brighton; Randy Oliphant (Judy) of Missouri; Cheryl Brown of Missouri; eleven grand children; eleven great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were held on September 12, 2011 at Olinger Highland Mortuary.
