

George E. Sack, 83, of Brighton, passed away April 16, 2014. He was born May 28, 1930, in Brighton to Conrad and Mary (Lauer) Sack, and raised on their farm west of Brighton. He married Darlene Buckley on December 21, 1974 in Denver, Colorado.
He was a meat cutter, and owned his own business, Sack’s Custom Cutting. He was well known for his special German Sausage, which was enjoyed by many, especially at weddings and funerals.
George was a member of St. Augustine’s Catholic Church, a charter member and past Grand Knight of the Brighton Knights of Columbus. For many years, George cooked wonderful steak and prime rib meals for their polka dinner-dances.
George had many passions. He loved gardening, cooking, pinochle, gambling in Black Hawk, bowling, and polka dancing.
He is survived by his loving wife Darlene, his children, George Jr., Gerald, Allen, and Sharon; 7 stepchildren, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nephews, and nieces. George was preceded in death by his parents, Conrad and Mary (Lauer) Sack, brothers Joseph, John, Casper, Albert, and Conrad, sisters Betty Ann Sack, Anne Roskop, and Mary Mollendor.
Visitation will be 6:00-7:00 p.m., and Rosary Service, 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Olinger Highland Mortuary 10201 Grant Street Thornton, Colorado. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2014, at St. Augustine’s Catholic Church. Interment at Highland Cemetery, 10201 Grant Street, Thornton, Colorado.
Following interment, family and friends are invited to a reception at the Brighton Elks, 101 North Main Street in Brighton.
