

Joan Lavonne Licata, 89 of Northglenn, CO, passed away on February 12, 2020. Joan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was born on February 17, 1930 in Yankton, SD, graduated from Yankton High School in 1947, and earned a degree in Education from Mount Marty College, Yankton, in 1951. Joan taught school in Alexandria, SD and was later a flight attendant for Western Airlines. She married her husband, Lonnie, in 1956 and was a devoted mother and homemaker to her four children. Joan returned to the education field in 1980 as an instructional paraprofessional for Adams County School District until her retirement in 2005. Joan will be remembered for her extraordinary kindness to others and her devotion to her family. Preceded in death by her husband, Lonnie Licata, her parents, Orville and Marie Moses, sisters, Betty Prunty and Jean Lethcoe, brother, James Moses, infant child, Julie Licata, and infant grandchildren, Lonnie and Nicholas Licata. She is survived by her sons, Mitch (fiancé Deborah), Salvatore (Kelli), and Lon (Amy) Licata, daughter, Lisa Licata, sister-in-law, Jo Ann Moses, grandchildren Jeremy (Kelly) Davis, Cassandra (Jeremy) and Korey Letkomiller, Jennifer (Brandon) Horton, Jeffrey and Brady Licata, Ellie, Kailey, and Lexi Licata, great-grandchildren, Gavin Letkomiller, Kinsley Horton, Laney, Lexie and Andrew Davis, and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Feb. 19th, 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at Olinger Highland Mortuary (10201 Grant St, Thornton CO), with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m. at Olinger. Visitation on Thursday, Feb. 20th, 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church (11385 Grant Street, Northglenn, CO), with a Funeral Mass 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Immaculate Heart followed by a luncheon at the Immaculate Heart Parish Center. Internment will take place at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery (12801 W. 44th Ave, Wheat Ridge, CO) at 1:00 p.m. The family suggests sending any desired memorial contributions to Catholic Charities or a charity of your choice.
