

LaVerne Ann Nickel Bogan, 71, passed away on June 25, 2021, at home, after a strong battle against cancer, in Denver, Adams County, Colorado. She was born on March 8, 1950, in Moorhead, Minnesota to Orlando and Olga (Thompson) Nickel.
LaVerne grew up in Moorhead and graduated from Moorhead High in 1968. After high school she attended Moorhead Area Technical Institute in Moorhead, Minnesota where she received a one-year degree. Following her education, she began work for Border States Electric in Fargo, North Dakota for a few years before marriage and a move to Denver, Colorado. She worked for Adams County Human Services in the Child and Family Services Division in Colorado as Administrative Lead Worker for 30 years until retirement.
LaVerne married Michael Thomas Bogan in 1973 at Holy Spirit Church in Fargo, North Dakota. They were happily married for almost 48 years. LaVerne was a long-time member of Holy Cross Church in Thornton, Colorado. She enjoyed cruising, particularly in the Caribbean, and road trip vacations; all manner of outdoor activities, especially gardening, water fitness classes, and bicycling; and spending time with family and friends. She received the Adams County Employee of the month award in October 2010, and she was chosen the Adams County Unsung Hero Employee of the Season for the summer of 2014.
LaVerne was preceded in death by her parents Orlando and Olga.
LaVerne is survived by her spouse Michael of Denver, Adams County, Colorado, her sons Christopher Bogan of Bend, Oregon and Brian (Andrea) Bogan of Fort Collins, Colorado, her brother Gary (Terry) Nickel of Moorhead, Minnesota and sister Myrna Docker of Scottsdale, Arizona, and niece, Mary Jo, and nephew, Matt, and other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at Olinger Highland Mortuary located at 10201 Grant Street in Thornton, Colorado at 1:00 pm on July 6, 2021. Inurnment at Olinger Highland Cemetery.
